Mirror (WIP)

I had an odd idea about making about $10 worth of mirror/easels to redirect more light into the house to reduce the heating bill. It’s still a work in progress, but I sketched out something like this.

Gimp and PDF

I get an error when I open a PDF with Gimp. I’ve asked on the forums about it. It turns out that [GhostScript 8.60] needs to be in your path. Also a environment variable needs to be created for {GS_PROG: C:/Program Files (x86)/gs/gs8.60/bin/gswin32c.exe}.

Microsoft released a free [add-on] that allows you to print to PDF.

Sector 13 Gameplay Videos

I had a chance to record a gameplay video for the IGF build that we submitted. There is a bug in my audio driver that explains the audio noise.

Dr. Divx

[Dr. Divx] is an open source video encoder that allows you to both encode and crop video at the same time. With Dr. Divx you can queue up encoding videos for a variety of download speeds.

Cloning One of Two heads

I have a dual-head SLI rig. I’m able to create a desktop that extends over two monitors and a TV. But I need a new feature in the NVidia control panel. I’d like to choose a monitor to clone to customize the signal that goes to the TV. I’ve asked on the NVidia forums if this is possible.

I was hoping for an interface that looks more like this:

XP Pro on VMware

If you can install VMware server on Windows 2003 then you’ll be able to create a VMware virtual image. After the image is created, load the image with VMware player which works on Win2k, WinXP, and Vista. When the VMware image boots you can install any OS. Lastly, load the image on the VMware server to install the VMware client tools after the OS is running. Here’s an example of WinXP Pro running on Vista in a window.

VMWare Server

[VMWare Server] is a free product that allows you to create Virtual Machines. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the drivers that it comes with are signed, so it doesn’t appear to work in Vista Ultimate.

At least in Linux you can have more than 1 user logged in at the same time.

1080p Movie Creation

I’m trying to create a 1080p movie, which should be 1440×1080 pixels. But for some reason, Microsoft Movie Maker adds a gray background, when I try to publish at the correct size.
